The reason I do what I do... Dayton Ohio bound
When I started this fitness journey a little over five years ago I had no idea where it would take me or what would happen to me as a result. After I moved from Maine I had to take a long hard look at myself and where I was. I had been in a pretty nasty accident in Maine that had left my left shoulder all kinds of messed up. I was pretty strong but overweight and slow. I would always sweat the annual fitness test and always had to do one every 6 months. As I sat down and looked at everything I also started to look at what had happened in my family. As Tony Horton says sex is the great multiplier you take all the bad nasty from your dad and all the bad nasty from your mom and there is a good indicator of what you may be facing down the road. So this was bleak. I lost my Uncle Jimmy when he was very young to cancer and this alone made me decide that by the age of 37 (the age he passed away at) I would run a full marathon. So that goal has gone and passed lots of half's run and obstacle races but no full.
Recently I had another cancer scare. The first was a skin cancer thing nothing to scary but the last was a little more scary. The doctor told me that I had what looked like a cyst on my kidney. He told me that it was actually more normal than not and I told him figure it out and make sure that it was not going to be more than just a cyst. Results back and it is nothing major something to watch but nothing to really worry about. This brought me back to my goal. I have a half marathon coming up in April and it has felt great getting back out on the roads running again. That is still just a half marathon not my goal.
Yesterday I received an email stating that the Air Force Village is putting together a team to run the Air Force Marathon in Dayton Ohio and all we had to do is raise funds for a bib for the race. I emailed her to find out more and crazy enough with in a couple of hours I was registered to run the full Air Force Marathon. If you are reading this first thanks for reading and second please help me out and donate a little to help me reach my goal. They had an option to add a name to your bib and I am running in memory of my Uncle Jimmy and his name will be on my bib. So training is going to swift a little bit but not much the last thing I want to do is lose strength as I prepare for this race. This was yesterday's wod just to put a wod in here. This was a great one building core muscles!!
