Humility
I have to give huge props to Tracy Jardim today. He challenged me to a work out and then destroyed me in it. There is a lot to be said about humility in crossfit. It is one of the most important aspects of crossfit understanding that you might be doing something that you have never done before and it is ok to suck at it and do light weights. Today was one of those days. After coming back from a huge high on a new PR today Tracy challenged me to do one of the open workouts. Now I have been looking at this WOD for a little while now and wanting to give it a try however, it had overhead squats in it and that was holding me back. So glad someone pushed me into it because I needed the reality check and humility check. So since I have started in crossfit I have never worked overhead anything really. Before it was because of my shoulder and any weight overhead just felt bad and wrong. Now it is because I have never worked overhead so I am weak.
Understand that you will never get better at anything unless you try and work at that one thing. I so wish there was a magic fairy that could come sprinkle overhead dust on me and bam there is a 200 lbs overhead squat. Not going to happen so I will keep playing with 55 lbs until I get it down and then start working up. Yep I said 55 lbs not very much at all and today that weight stole me soul and ran away with my pride. Which was good. I know have an enemy to fight and I will fight it! So todays WOD was
Deadlifts for skill work.
1 Rep max today at 345 not to heavy could have gone more but it felt off so a good place to stop for the day.
Regional WOD from my own personal hell.
3 Min to get
10 Overhead
10 Chest to bar
x2
Then each three minutes adding two reps until you can not make it in 3 minutes. That would be one round and barely that. I think on round two I got 7 or 8 overhead squats.
After that we did sets of two on snatches building up to a one rep max.
