Early week in review: Cold, Being Human and Fighting Mutants and goals for 2015 the year of the Goat Killer
I have fallen behind this week with updating this thing. This has been an off week but a good one not the best for fitness but a good one for other reasons. I had the chance last night to help out and judge a high school weight lifting event. It really reminded me of why I love fitness. It was a very different experience from your typical crossfit comp but it was fun to learn new ways of judging.
I am now on my off period for my pre workout I really do not like to stay on them for to long and I have been on them right now for longer than I like. So now it is time to give my body a chance to recover and reset. The big problem with coming off a pre workout is that you remember just how human you are. This first week has been really rough. Some people have their coffee to get them going but for me it was either C4 or Stacked. Waking up and getting moving has been just that much harder this week and the fact that it has been cold (for Florida 40 is freezing) has not helped out.
The first good workout that I have done since leaving the world of the superhuman pre workout crowd was what I call Mutant Annie. Annie is a great work out and one that you can get through really fast but I needed something that was going to push me and I wanted to work doubles. So on Tuesday I did a Mutant Annie it is:
50,40,30,20,10,5 Double Unders, Push Ups, Sit Ups
You do 50 of each D.U, P.U, and S.U then between each round run 300 meters 12 Pulls ups (going down each round by 2) and 1 heavy hang clean (155) going up each round by 1.
I did not time this one but I can tell you I did this one very very slow! Age may just be a number but I have been noticing as those numbers move up I have to train harder just to do what I did a little while ago. I like these down times away from pre workouts it helps you to understand better where you need to work and what you need to focus on.
This year I plan to focus on my Goats(those movements that just kill you when you see them in a WOD). I will learn as much as I can about them and by the end of the year I will be eating goat stew. A good friend always tells me that you need to put your desires out there and let the Universe make them happen. I think that putting these down on paper will make me more focused to actually start killing some goats. So the goals for this year are:
1. A half marathon sub 1 hour and 40 Minutes
2. A 5k sub 21 minutes
3. Muscle Ups both bar and ring(one of my biggest goats)
3. Overhead Squat body weight (Motivation to get body weight down quickly!)
4. Have a 300 lbs working weight front squat
5. 250 Clean
6. Hand stand walk across the gym
7. Sub 5 Fran
After my surgery on my shoulder it has been tough getting back but this will be the year that I get strength back in my shoulder and build speed and endurance.
